What Is Damp Proofing?
Damp proofing creates a barrier inside the wall that prevents ground moisture from rising upward. In many older properties, the original damp proof course has failed or was never installed correctly. Without that barrier, moisture moves through brick and mortar by capillary action.
We install a new internal damp proof course within the wall itself, blocking further moisture movement and allowing the structure to dry over time.

- Peeling or bubbling paint
- Plaster that feels soft or crumbly
- White salt deposits on brickwork
- Damp patches that do not seem to dry out
- A musty smell near floor level
How We Treat It
Our approach is straightforward and carefully carried out.
First, we inspect the property to confirm that rising damp is the issue. Once confirmed, we drill into the mortar line at the correct height and inject a specialised damp proof compound. This forms a new barrier within the wall, preventing moisture from continuing to rise.
In some cases, damaged plaster may need to be removed and replaced so the wall can properly dry and breathe again. We explain this clearly before any work begins.
